Hello. I'm am 41 years old next month. I have been doing microneedling with PRP for the last 5 years to maintain collagen production. I don't have much laxity and feel overall okay about my skin. I am getting a lot of wrinkles right underneath my eyes when I smile. Would I benefit to switching to something like Sylfirm RF or are most RF devices smoke and mirrors? I just don't want to be wasting money. What is best for maintaining collagen ? Trying to stay young looking as long as possible!
Answer: Pen vs. Sylfirm The answer to your question depends on how happy you are with your results. I love Sylfirm radiofreq. microneedling with exosomes and was the second provider on the east coast. We have been getting excellent results from everything from melasma, pore, acne scarring redness, vascular lesions ect. Virually no downtime and not painful like Morpheus 8. Look into this wonderful therapy and look your best. JB

Answer: Radiofrequency Hello Rosepetal83, thank you for your question! It's great that you have been taking such good care of your skin so early on. However, microneedling alone will only take you so far. In our practice, we use Sylfirm X and Thermage as radiofrequency treatments around the eyes with great results. The microneedling does help with collagen building, but the RF is what is going to really tighten up the collagen against gravity's pull. These treatments also strengthen the skin, which will be particularly beneficial around the eyes. I hope this helped! Best of luck in your search! -Genie Alexander, RN BSN for Dr. Anna Petropoulos, MD FRCS at Center for Classic Beauty, Boston & Danvers, MA

Answer: For "Pre-Juvenation" Consider: A Series Of In-Office Superficial Peels & At-Home Rx Topicals Frankly, the PRP & the RF microneedling (much like the fraxel lasers and other light and energy-based devices with fancy names) are basically "smoke and mirrors." The hard science to back up these approaches lags woefully behind the heavy marketing and social media buzz that surrounds them. You would do well to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist to discuss the use of a series of in-office superficial peels, such as with full strength glycolic or salicylic acid, Jessner' Solution, or low strength TCA complemented by the regular at-home use of prescription topicals, such as retinoids. These treatments have stood the test of time for both safety and efficacy for "prejuvenation," as well as rejuvenation, which cannot be said for so many of the expensive, here-today-gone-tomorrow "bells and whistles" devices and treatments out there. To your credit, the very fact that you questioned whether the RF was smoke and mirrors demonstrates a very healthy level of skepticism about what is being hawked by the skinfluencers in social media. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Answer: SylfirmX plus Exosomes will definitely be a step up Since you have been responding well to microneedling with PRP, we might expect a great response with an upgrade like the SylfirmX with Exosomes. We tend to leave PRP treatments for prevention or maintenance, but after 35 y/o when aging starts to kick, we prefer treatments that are more effective and have more scientific evidence. The main difference will be to receive the Na effect radiofrequency that only SylfirmX has (and Scarlet devices) that gives you more biostimulation, enhanced by the Benev exosomes right after. You could treat areas such as upper and lower eyelids (as close as 2 mm to the eyelash line), improving you area of concern. When using exosomes, we infuse tissues with at least 2.5 billion growth factors that we could never obtain from PRF or PRP, with an anti-inflammatory added benefit from, giving you a faster recovery time as well. I'll definitely start treating the neck to prevent sagginess. And don't forget to use Medical Grade Skincare such as Alastin or Pavise to enhance any results that you're looking for.
