Is microneedling with PRP a good option post Dermaroller?

Hello knowledable people, I had gotten some volume loss and onset of wrinkles on my cheeks after at home .5 mm Dermaroller. It's been 2 months now and it's not healing very fast. Is PRP with microneedling a good option for me? What if my skin is sensitive to needles that's why it damaged with Dermaroller? Is microneedling in this light a good option for me? Thanks in advance!!

Thank you for your question about microneedling.  Microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma) will make an impact on your skin texture and pore size.   Everyone is different in how soon they will see results from their treatment. You will often begin to see smoother brighter skin within 1-2 days. Your skin actually continues to improve over time (weeks to months) with collagen remodeling underneath the skin's surface. Within the first 2-3 weeks, most patients will see their pigmentation improve, followed by deeper skin regeneration that keeps improving over the ensuing months.  Collagen production will have longer lasting results, but does take several months to see benefits.  
To be sure you receive appropriate treatment, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

This is a very important question! Microneedling with PRP may be the right for you to treat acne scars, uneven complexion, fine lines and wrinkles, larger pores and more. Be sure to consult a certified practitioner before moving forward with the treatment, however, microneedling is safe to do on all skin types, including sensitive skin. I highly recommend that you always choose a practitioner who is very experienced, and at your next appointment, ask your dermatologist for a custom at-home skincare regimen to keep your skin appearing bright and even year-round.

Hi Cutevixen, There are many reasons why you are not healing. Because what you performed was a home procedure, your skin might have been infected. You can also have yourself to rule-out diabetes.That said, microneedling with or without PRP should be done by professionals. Part of the reason why you probably don't see significant results is that the depth required to induce collagen growth was not reached. Microneedling requires numbing so you reach the right depth without extreme discomfort.Unless you are prone to keloid formation or have an active acne outbreak/infection, microneedling should be fine.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
