Hi! Im 21F getting my breast augmentation next year! prior to booking i did 2 consultations, doctor i ended up going with said i had sects excavatum (very slight) , but the other doctor didn’t. My wuestion for doctors on here is does it look like i have pe or no? Also, how will it affect the look of my implants?

Thank you for your questions and pics. It does appear that you have a slight central depression but I doubt this would even meet the criteria for "mild" based on the Haller index. It does not mean that you are not a candidate for augmentation but you and your surgeon should take time to discuss baseline asymmetry and how the underlying chest wall influences the overlying tissue as that can be magnified after breast implants. In addition, a central chest depression means that the ribcage might be slightly slanted centrally, which over time may encourage the implants to migrate medially and you should discuss with your surgeon how he or she is preventing that at the time of surgery as well as what you can do in the longer term to prevent this problem. Thanks for your questions.  Based on the picture you might have a mild Pectus excavatum, but this should not affect too much your results of a breast augmentation.  What might affect the results to a small degree is your slight breast size and location asymmetry, but again you should be able to get a very nice result.  Be sure to see a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon for your consultation.

Based upon your photos, you have a very mild pectus deformity (if at all).

Pectus is the most common congenital chest wall abnormality characterized by a depression of the lower costal/rib cartilage. If there is a deformity, it unlikely to be severe enough to influence your result.

That being said, a pectus deformity will not disqualify you for breast surgery. However, certain considerations will need to be taken preop. The implant is seated on your chest wall. Pectus can affect position, shape and cleavage. This need to be taken into account when planning/selecting implants. It is also important to realize that regardless of the measures taken to offset the deformity, there is a limit to what can be accomplished. The chest wall shape will always have an impact on the appearance of the breast.

As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Hi there,
Whether you have pectus excavatum is best confirmed in person, since a very mild dip in the breastbone is easy to miss or overcall in photos. The good news is that mild pectus usually doesn't stop you from having a beautiful augmentation. It just means your surgeon plans a little differently.
A few things worth knowing:
- With pectus, the breasts often angle slightly outward and can be a bit uneven. Implants make your breasts bigger, but they don't fully change those angles, so some of that will still be there afterward.- Implants can drift toward the dip in the middle, so surgeons pay extra attention to how the pocket is made, especially along the cleavage.- A slightly wider implant, sometimes a different size on each side, and placement partly under the muscle can help even things out.- Fat transfer is a nice add-on if there's still a hollow or asymmetry after surgery.- Try your sizers on in a sports bra and a tight shirt, and ask about 3D imaging such as Crisalix to preview the result.
An in-person exam is needed for personal advice, so ask your surgeon to show you exactly what they're seeing and how it changes their plan.

Those with pectus excavatum can have beautiful results from breast augmentation.  Adjustments can be made depending on the degree of the condition and the patient's goals.  Based on the photos if you have the condition it is mild, but an exam is necessary for clarity.  You do have some asymmetry which can be addressed during your surgery. Hi! Looking at your photograph, there appears to be a slight depression in the center of your chest, which could be consistent with mild pectus excavatum. However, it is not possible to confirm this diagnosis based solely on a photograph.
Pectus excavatum is an alteration in the shape of the sternum that can affect the position and orientation of the breasts. In the context of breast augmentation, this might cause the implants to appear slightly further apart or result in some degree of asymmetry.
The good news is that mild pectus excavatum does not necessarily prevent you from undergoing breast augmentation or achieving natural, harmonious results.
I would recommend an in-person consultation to examine your chest structure, take breast measurements, and carefully select the size, profile, and placement of the silicone implants
