Lipo should never be done under general anesthesia if you really want the best results since your doc can stand you up during the procedure occasionally to fine tune the results which you can't do under general anesthesia. I do a little iv sedation for complete comfort and the patients are comfortable and happy. I also do only 1 per day so I have the time to really fine tune the results and I operate each day. Typically the docs doing general anesthesia which is "old school" are also using the larger canulas which don't give as good results as the newer better technique of the micro smaller canulas.
It is not possible to perform 360 liposuction with local anesthesia. Even if it was possible, I wouldn't recommend it.
