Velashape 1 and Velashape 3 are in reference to the machine models. We currently have Velashape 3 which is the newer model. My office recommends three different procedures incorporating it: ThermiSmooth, VelaShape #3, and Cellfina or Cellifina Platinum. We have used the original Velashape for years and obtained very good results. Although the newer machines have more power, results often depend on the practitioner and the condition you are treating. In our experience, cellulite responds best, while treatment for fat reduction on larger areas tends to be much less effective.Hope that helps
