Why Latisse does not work after two years of use? Neither plain bimatoprost does.

Question

After two years of Latisse use, my eyelashes became weak and short. I started using bimatoprost but they didn’t,t grow. The underwear side effects are terrible. My eyes and underwear area is very red and I look sick. Any suggestion?

Yes, eventually Latisse results may plateau. A combination approach is needed. In combination with Latisse, I typically inject and apply topically PRP for a few treatments at the beginning to improve the growth rate of the lashes. Take viviscal as well. This requires and in person evaluation so that the physician can take a very close look at the lashes and eyebrows and scalp to determine what is happening. A full review of the story and blood tests will also be needed.

Hi aalexandrakis, Yes, sometimes this happens with Latisse. It is not necessarily an abnormal occurrence because hair (including lashes) have a resting and active phase. If this is the resting phase,  no amount of boosting will do much. Have yourself checked - sometimes medical conditions like hypothyroidism impact hair growth. Sudden weight loss and poor nutrition can have an effect as well.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
