I have nipples that only come out with temperature changes. Is nipple correction safe with implants?

hi. I have nipples that only come out when cold but wish they would stay out. Can nipples be corrected with implants. Or could this be a bad idea??thanks for your professional opinions.

Inverted nipples can cause functional and body image problems for women. An inverted nipple can look flat or a slit like depression or hole at the normal nipple location. There are different degrees of inverted nipples possible.  Usually correction of the inverted nipples involve division  of the lactiferous (milk ducts). Risks  of the procedure include potential loss of sensation, inability to breast-feed, recurrence of the inversion and the potential need for further surgery.  When the time is right, seek consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons who can demonstrate significant experience helping patients achieve the outcomes you will be pleased with. Based on your description it sounds as though you have a mild case of inverted nipples .  I say mild because they come out easily ie when its cold. In someone like you who is contemplating breast implants, I would recommend having breast augmentation and seeing what the nipples do as there is a strong chance that breast augmentation alone will lead to adequate nipple eversion.  If nipple inversion is still the case following breast implants, a nipple eversion procedure could then be planned under local anaesthetic.

It sounds like you have inverted nipples.  Without pictures I can not be sure.  You should make an appointment with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for correction.  If you do have inverted nipples you would not need an implant for correction.

It is definitely worth a try, but not a guarantee. I've had patients who had inverted nipples, and after having a breast augmentation they had full or partial improvement of one or both of their inverted nipples. Usually it depends on the severity of the case as to what I recommend. Typically if you have reaction to temperature and/or touch there is a higher chance that the pressure from the implants will help push the nipples out.
