Should I be worried about my headaches? (I am on Accutane)

Question

I have been taking Accutane for about a week now. I have been having headaches a lot recently which is not entirely normal for me. However, I also noticed I started getting headaches BEFORE I started the Accutane. I also had a nasty virus the past week which caused me to get a fever, cough, and congestion. The headaches could be due to still getting over this or a mix of everything (and allergies). I am just wondering if I should be worried if this is due to the Accutane or not?

Hello and thank you for your question. One of the side effects of isotretinoin is headaches. If you are experiencing ongoing headaches, I would recommend consulting your board certified general practitioner for evaluation. In addition, I recommend an evaluation of your progress by your board certified dermatologist and for discussion of alternatives to your acne treatment. Best of luck.
