Can you get fillers while on accutane?

Question

I’ve been on accutane for five months and am about to finish my last month. Can I get facial fillers? I would like to get them on my last week of using accutane.

Hi Zoraida1001, Thank you for your question. I recommend to postpone non-emergency or selective procedure until 1 month after accutane treatment. This way the accutane drug has had enough time to be completely removed  from your bloodstream. Good luck!Dr. Deborah Longwill

Thank you for your question.A common side effect of Accutane treatment is an increase risk in scarring when any trauma is done to the skin. Performing any procedures, including injections with fillers, during Accutane therapy is not recommended. I highly recommend you consult with your prescribing dermatologist regarding any further questions. Take care and good luck.
