Lip lift care - how long after the surgery should I be cautious with mouth movements?

Hello, I got a lip lift almost 3 weeks ago. I am still a bit swollen and my upper lip feels stiff/numb. I realise this is fairly normal, but also suspect I am healing slightly slower than average. I am still trying to limit the movements of my mouth when talking/eating/smiling and still follow a soft food diet to avoid chewing. I'm wondering how much longer should I keep following these precautions? I'm conscious that I have some internal sutures which need to heal.

At three weeks I usually allow my patients to go back to a regular diet and normal activities other then contact sports or activities were the lip can be hit.  It is normal for the lip to feel tight and this will continue to relax with time.  Take care.Timothy A. Janiga MD, FACS
