Bad experience with lash lift - How long does it take for eyelashes to grow back and old lashes to fall out?

Each lash is following it's own individual growth cycle, but it typically takes 4-8 weeks. I'm so sorry that you've had this bad experience. While your lashes are still growing in, have you thought about having a professional apply individual false lashes to the bald spots? It could make you feel less self conscious. I am sorry to hear about your experience. On average, your eyelash hair cycle lasts about 60 days. So you may have to wait about two months for regrowth.

In the meantime, if your bald spots continue to upset you, try to see if false eyelash strips would help. If for some reason your lash hairs do not grow back, you may want to consider an eyelash transplant procedure.

Thank you for your question.  As far as I am aware a Lash Lift essentially uses silicone to lift each eyelash individually and then the permanent solution is applied for approximately 12-15 minutes followed by a neutralizing solution for another 10-15 minutes.  The solution should not cause you to lose your eyelashes but if applied incorrectly or not neutralized this would be possible.  Needless to say, since it has been 7 weeks I suggest you follow up with your Board Certified Dermatologist to rule out other potential causes of madarosis (eyelash loss) such as alopecia areata, seb derm, medications, hormonal changes, etc. as the lash lift may be coincidental.  If there is an underlying medical condition, treating the condition should improve the madarosis, if it is truly due to the Lash Llft they should return to normal shortly.  After they improve you may consider using a lash conditioner or product such as Latisse to make the lashes longer, thicker and fuller.  Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
