Just wondering if it's possible to combine Infini RF MIcroneedling with a laser like the Fraxel Re:Store (Fraxel Dual) in the one treatment for acne scars? I've read about certain doctors who combine RF Microneedling with the Fraxel laser into single treatment on the same day to treat acne scarring. If this is possible, would you start with the RF Microneedling and then use the Fraxel Dual immediately afterwards? Thanks :)
Answer: Infini Combos Thank you for your question. I think Infini RF works great for acne scarring. I sold my fraxel laser years ago and now I am back doing fully ablative Co2 almost exclusively for laser patients. I would never combine the 2 machines I have. I would however in your case look at adding PRP to your Infini RF treatment and also possibly doing the fraxel laser as an alternate to the Infini RF (do fraxel one month, infini the next month). Whenever you combine treatments you almost always need to lower the settings on both machines so you are not causing too much thermal injury to your tissue. Hope this helps.

Answer: Fraxel in combination with Infini It is fine to use both technologies at one time and I have done so. I use the 1927 for pigmentation because Infini doesn't affect pigment. There is minimal difference in recovery time. The LaseMD is being marketed by Lutronic as a perfect combo with Infini and it also has the 1927 wavelength.

Answer: Infini RF and Fraxel Dual for acne scars Great question-- Infini is better than Fraxel for acne scars (depressions in the skin from acne scars). However, Fraxel restore is great at resurfacing the skin (smoothing out fine lines and irregularities at the very surface). They can be great in combination. You can alternate treatments (separated by at least 2 weeks in between) or you can do Infini series first, and then decide whether you need resurfacing. Some people with mild scarring do well with just Infini and do not need a fractional laser. I have combined a similar laser -- the LaseMD which can be dialed up in energy like Fraxel or way down in energy (like a clear and brilliant) immediately after Infini -- however, I've very low settings that Fraxel cannot do. I'd be concerned about a difficult down time with something more aggressive right after Infini. I would recommend doing them separately to get the most out of both. See someone who knows both modalities really well.

Answer: Combination treatments are possible. Medicare rebates if specialists perform certain procedures in Australia. I always combine my INFINI RF treatments, usually with lasers or most frequently with subcsion. If you are in Australia, make sure you see a Dermatologist or Plastics as most scar revision procedures like subcision, fully ablative lasers, TCA CROSS are covered only if performed by Specialist, not cosmetic GPs. To answer your question - yes, but ensure you have targeted scar revision, not device driven. Acne scar revision is a sub-specialised field. For the best results, one should target the acne scar type with ideal treatments and not just one device. The web reference below will take you to a resource to help you understand acne scar revision at a specialist level. I embedded all the videos in one page to help. For example deep ice pick scars, and narrow box car scars can be treated with TCA CROSS peels, mixed scars, rolling, and atrophic scars treated with fractional devices such as Fraxel, fractional lasers, PRP and INFINI radiofrequency. Atrophic scars (depressions) can be treated with either fat grafts, or with HA dermal fillers. Tethered and anchored scars are best treated with surgical techniques such as subcision. Other surgical techniques that we use include punch elevation, surgical elevation, punch excision and traditional excision of focal scars. The majority of patients will have a collection of different scar types, and hence a tailored treatment METHOD will be best. Careful examination, especially under angled lighting with scar mapping will give you an understanding of what are the best options for your scars. In the majority of patients its finding the correct combination that give you best results, and everyone is unique! All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Acne scar dermatologist specialist. Brisbane, Australia.
