Pressure in Nose when Swallow After Rhinoplasty

Question

I had rhinoplasty less than 4 days ago. When I swallow to eat or swallow in general there is a distinct pressure build up in my nose and then a limited release through my nose and ears. My nose is fairly full with dry blood and I am not sure if Dr put packing in. I do not mind the uncomfortable feeling but I am concerned that I will disrupt healing or the final results by continuously swallowing and creating that pressure in my nose. Is this a valid concern ? Thanks !

Dear nosebreather,

	Thank you for your question.  The tube between your nasal/oral passages and your ears may be blocked by congestion.  Your surgeon may ask you to take a decongestant, or take the packing out, or both.

Could be old blood clot, packing or both blocking your nose and causing congestion near your eustachian tube.  This all quite common.  Did you call your surgeon.   You should.
