How likely are bad results from Co2 Laser on legs? IPL laser gave poor results & wasted money.

Question

I had Co2 on my face 20 yrs ago with great results . I had IPL at highest Joul number & only slightly effective . I am naturally blond , 68 years old & have unsightly red , brown scaly spots all over the front of both legs .

Thank you for your question.  CO2 laser is highly effective for wrinkles and blotchy pigmentation on the face due to age and sun exposure, but I would not recommend for anything involving your legs.  The skin of the legs and the skin of the face heal  vastly differently in the setting of CO2 laser.  I would seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist with experience in lasers for a consultation.  Best wishes!

Thank you for your question.  IPL and CO2 are two unique treatments used to accomplish different treatments.  If your main concern is brown and red scaly spot, it is best to be evaluated by a board certified Dermatologist initially to determine the diagnosis.  If the diagnosis are precancerous in nature the medical treatment will take precedent, if they are solely seborrheic keratosis (benign growths) many options will avail themselves to you.  Please provide pictures or follow up with a board certified Dermatologist.  Regards, Dr. Matt Elias

Thank you for your question rebeccaperes. Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is an
outstanding treatment that can address multiple aspects of aging in a single
treatment. It is difficult to make an assessment without photographs. However, both IPL and fractional CO2 laser treatment can address brown spots. Fractional CO2 does not address redness. Often a combination of both treatments provides further benefit. Please consult with a doctor for specific
