Can I get botox in the procerus only, and not the corrugator muscle? If so, what would be the result? Would it help to lift the medial brows? I'm worried botox in the corrugator would make brows droop a little. Thanks!
Answer: Can Botox be injected into the procerus only? You can have Botox just placed in the procerus. I would usually do this for someone with an isolated horizontal crease between the brows. It likely will not lift the inner part of the brow as the corrugator muscles will still be functioning normally and pulling the brows down. A properly performed Botox treatment of the corrugators will not droop the brows. However, an inexperienced injector that places Botox above the corrugator in your frontalis muscle might droop your brows. Please consult with an experienced Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist injector who understands the anatomy. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Can Botox be injected into the procerus Yes botox can just be placed in the procerus muscle which will help with your horizontal crease on top of the nose. If you want your "11" lines to smooth out, you would need the corrugators injected. You will only get a lift in your brows if you did the full treatment ( procerus +corrugators) Hope that is helpful.

Answer: Botox in specific facial areas There are no limits to doing less botox. If you only want it in the procerus, then I see no problem with that. You should know that the procerus is respondible for the horizontal lines at the bridge, also known as bunny lines. It will probably not lift the brows much. If you want a brow lift, you usually have to inject the corregators as well, but you can do a partial block there. This causes more medial (or middle) lift to the brow, what I can a serene brow. If you want the tail to lift, you have to inject the orbicularis below the brow. Either way, you should be able to figure this out at a consultation.

Answer: Dropping the brow with Botox Botox works at the neuromusclar junction and decreases the muscle function. Both the procerus and corrugator muscles act as depressors of the brow, and application of Botox to these muscles will prevent them from pulling the brow downward and medially. In order to prevent the brow from dropping you should avoid having the frontalis injected, as this is the brow elevator. Be sure to have an experienced board-certified physician injector doing your injections.

Answer: Can Botox be injected into the procerus only? Certainly, Botox can be injected in the procerus muscle only. This will only reduce the horizontal crease on the top of the nose. The corrugator muscles are the muscles that create the vertical lines or the "11" in the glabella area (between the eyebrows).Your concerns can be specifically addressed by an experienced injector that understands the underlying anatomy.
