Using ice to decrease potential swelling after an injection session with Radiesse is a common benign practice. There’s no real harm to it, if used within reason. However, past the first 24-48 hours, it’s unlikely to be of much benefit.
When Radiesse is used to lift and fill the cheeks it is placed deep within the tissues and then molding to finish the contour. You may swell slightly for 1-3 days which will be diminished with keeping the area cool but not frozen for the same time period. Limiting sports activities that increase your heart rate will also help to minimize the swelling. Ask the physician that did the injections about icing instructions.
Swelling can persist for 2-3 weeks in some cases. I suggest an antihistamine (Claritin or Allegra), Arnika forte, and time. Icing usually isn't helpful after a few days but there is no harm in doing it. Avoid prolonged hot showers or exercise, steam rooms, submersion in water for a few weeks that will help too. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hi B. We usually let our patients know to ice for 2-3 days after treatment. Radiesse can feel hard and bumpy immediately after treatment, but the product smooths out over the first week. If you have concerns, you should contact your injector. For examples of before and after pictures of Radiesse injections for our Torrance and Orange, CA patients click on the link below.
Thank you for your question. You can ice the treated area for 10 minutes 2 times a day for the first 24-48 hours after treatment to help reduce swelling. After this there is not much benefit. I hope this helps.

We recommend icing for 10 minutes twice a day for two days. In our experience, that helps to resolve the swelling. Longer than that doesn't do much benefit. Some people like to alternate warm and cold compresses after the 1st 48 hours.
Your injector is the best one to guide you as he or she knows the scope of the treatment and the specifics about you. Different injectors feel differently about icing. If the swelling is persisting for more than a week, contact your injector.
In general, the acute swelling from fillers can be improved with ice for the first 24-48 hours. After this point, the ice will make little difference. The first evening and next morning is the most importantBest of luck
If possible, you should avoid icing areas that have been filled with Radiesse because you can push the filler out of the position in which your doctor has placed it. At very least ice very cautiously after your procedure. A consultation will behelpful to give you a definitive recommendation to address your individualneeds.
I would not be concerned about discovering that you are pregnant a week after having had Radiesse injected into your cheeks. First of all, you are correct that the main composition is calcium based. Second, the Radiesse will only stay in your cheeks and not circulate throughout your...
I've been using Radiesse for years, so believe me, I'm very experienced in this matter. I agree with your doctor. I've examined your photos, and there is an allergy you experienced after 6-7 months, but it is definitely not related to Radiesse. Allergic reactions don't occur six months after an...
Radiesse is a very firm filler with great lifting ability which is unsuitable for the tear trough region. It ha been available in the country in various forms since 2004 and was FDA approved for use in the nasolabial folds in 2006. The lumps will resolve in time, but will require patience. No...
