Is the composite bonding material dentists put on chipped front teeth supposed to shrink over the course of one day?

I just got my two front teeth filled in because they were chipped. It has been about 4 hours and I've noticed that behind my teeth the bonding material feels as if it has shrunk by half. Is that supposed to happen or should I be concerned? The bottom and front both feel fine however, no noticeable shrinkage like behind the two front teeth.

No, there should be no shrinking. The material we use does not shrink. It could be that it feels rough or that you chipped the material in half.

There should be no shrinkage of the composite material after it has been completed in the office. When the bonding is placed there is slight shrinkage that is accounted for by the dentist. The material should be stable when you leave the office. It is possible that a piece may have dislodged but there would be no shrinking.

once it is cured , after that no shrinking, no shape change. and here what u r saying , that value[half] is too high, that is not possible.
