Is PRP after CoolPeel effective?

I have a gift card to do a CoolPeel treatment. I’ve also been wanting to do PRP, and they told me I can add on PRP to a CoolPeel laser treatment. However I read online that CoolPeel is a more shallow laser. Would application of PRP after CoolPeel be effective, given that the laser penetrates superficially? Would you recommend skipping PRP altogether in the context of a CoolPeel?

Hi,

You’re right that CoolPeel is a more superficial CO₂ laser—it targets the upper layers of the skin and is excellent for improving texture, tone, and fine lines. Because it doesn’t penetrate as deeply as full-field CO₂ lasers, the “channels” it creates for PRP to penetrate are more superficial.

That doesn’t mean PRP is useless after CoolPeel—it can still provide some benefit by promoting healing, enhancing skin brightness, and giving a subtle boost in collagen activity. However, the effect is likely less dramatic than when combined with a deeper laser treatment.

So, if your goal is general skin rejuvenation and glow, combining PRP with CoolPeel is fine and safe. If you’re looking for deeper structural improvement, PRP may be more impactful after a deeper resurfacing procedure rather than a superficial one.

It ultimately comes down to the results you’re hoping to achieve. PRP won’t hurt, but expectations should be adjusted given the superficial nature of CoolPeel.
