Facelift scars looking odd - do I need a revision or would scar treatments help? (Photos)

Hello. I’m 8 months post op from a deep place facelift, necklift. I’ve taken care of my scars as advised during healing with silicone gel. As healing has progressed the scars have “branched out” and slightly elevated. My ear lobes are also not the same and look odd to me. My ears are also still very sensitive to any touch. Should I be thinking revision? Lasers? Steroid? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for submitting your questions and photos.  I’m sorry you are experiencing this complication.  Based on the photos, you are a great candidate for scar revision to both sides.  This is typically an office procedure where the area is numbed, the scars are completely removed, and the skin is sutures back together.  I’d recommend avoiding exterior sutures (have your surgeon bury all dissolvable sutures under the skin) in order to avoid the sutures scars on the outside.  The left earlobe is slightly tethered downward, giving you an attached “pixie ear”.  This can be revised easily as well.  I highly recommend you seek an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options in further detail.  Good luck and thanks again for reaching out.

You could either do a scar revision or laser. You need something aggressive that will treat the full thickness depth of the scar. These are related to poor closure/tension/sutures.

A scar revision would be best to try and make then smaller. Your earlobes could also be adjusted to try and be more even. this could all be done in the office. Go visit with your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.
