Hi Art. It's more common to look for visible signs of occlusion rather than a temperature change. As Dr. Elmer points out, the area usually blanches white or dusky grey and this is the main indicator of the loss of blood flow. If you have had changes in color after injections (lightening of the skin immediately afterward and persisting) it would be imperative to have it looked at immediately.
Occlusion can be immediate and delayed and have various symptoms including change in color, pain, warmth, or cold. If the skin looks dusky in color or blanched (white) then you should have it looked at. Best, Dr. Emer.
