What treatment options do I have for spider veins on my thigh and under & above my bra line? (Photo)

Question

I've had a cluster of spider veins on one of my thighs since the age of 10. I learned to accept it, it looks like a bruise. I've found an increasing amount of spider veins on the sides of my rib cage just under my bra line. What are the causes a spider veins in these areas? Is it Common to have spider veins on your legs as a child? I'm in my early 30s now that I'm finding them under & above my bra line. Is there a particular cause something I can do to prevent them?

Genetics and hormones (i.e. estrogen and progesterone) play a part in spider vein development.  The gold standard of therapy is sclerotherapy.  It will likely require a series of treatments but make sure to consult a qualified physician and you can easily get these veins treated.  Good luck.Best, Payman Kosari, MD, FAAD

Spider veins can occur almost anywhere but they are certainly most common on the legs.  Genetics, age, hormones, sun exposure and trauma all play a role.  The gold standard for spider veins is sclerotherapy but very small veins can also be treated with laser or fine needle radio frequency current.
