Is my scar from fat necrosis after a tummy tuck 1 year ago fixable? And can my abdomen be flattened? (photos)

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Sometimes the full scar needs to be revised and this just entails surgically removing and restitching the scar.  Sometimes the scar plus the skin needs to be removed and that is a revision tummy tuck.  I suggest posting photos and seeing an expert in revision procedures that combine liposuction/fat removal, skin tightening, body shaping/definition, fat grafting and cellulite improvement. it is hard to tell for sure without an examination but based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a tummy tuck and scar revision. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Hello and thank you for your question.  I am sorry to hear about your experience.  Based on your photographs, I would recommend a revision tummy tuck with elevation of your superior flap and removal of your entire scar.  This can be done through a low incision.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.
