My porcelain crown chipped. What are my best options?

This morning my porcelain crown in the lower back of my mouth had a small chip come off. i had a root canal and this crown done 1 1/2 years ago. What are my best options and an estimate of the cost. I appreciate any responses as I will be seeking a solution tomorrow. Thanking you all in advance!

See a cosmetic dentist which is an expert in porcelain crowns.Basically depending on the location of the chip, you can repair it via dental bonding. The protocol for repairing chipped porcelain is very technique sensitive, and needs to be done with a dentist, or preferably cosmetic dentist that is artistic with his dexterity for the shape of the tooth and the specific color to match !If the fracture is toward the edge of the tooth in which you tear food, depending on your bite (occlusion), you might be better of to redo your crown.Repairing your dental porcelain crown takes one visit and the cost is much cheaper, if it can be done as opposed to having a new dental porcelain crown, which is more lengthy, much higher in cost, and takes 2 visits.You van also ask if you are a candidate for Emax crown, or Lava zerconia crown, which are also very strong.

Without a picture it is difficult to determine how much porcelain has chipped. If the chip is superficial it may be able to be smoothed. If the chip compromises more of the crown it may need to be remade. The cost can range from an office visit to the price of a new crown. I hope this helps.
