What would correct this? Do they look ok as they are or is my nose really an unusual shape?

photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can
accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your
lower nose.  Make
sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients
who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer
animation system. The most important aspect is to find a
surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a
qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

No, your nostrils appear very normal. They should best be left well enough alone. A closed rhinoplasty can  accomplish making other changes to the nose such as refining the bridge line and nasal tip

Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry and shape. You can bring the pictures that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed.  It takes special interest and study to understand the facial aesthetics to create a nose that is harmonious with your other features. Take the time to find the right facial plastic surgeon and ask them to create digital images of the nose they propose for you and discuss the cost.

It is difficult to evaluate your nose in just one picture where your head is slanted and the lighting is not standardized.  No, your nose is not weird ! It does appear from this one photo however that the lower half of your nose is more prominent than the upper half of your nose. Good news is that all of this can be enhanced if you desire. Dear Totallyanna, I do not see anything necessarily wrong with your nostrils.  Rhinoplasty surgery could address aspects of your nose to provide a nice balance to your facial aesthetics. Seek some consultations with expert surgeons and have imaging performed to show you the changes rhinoplasty could provide for you. If you like the possibilities then you can make an informed decision. Review the surgeons before and after photographs of noses similar to your own to ensure expertise and natural looking results.
