Finasteride reduces the risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer by as much as 25 %. Obesity however increases the risk of prostate cancer. Studies have not addressed whether men who experience weight gain using finasteride for hair loss have alerted risk.

Weight gain is unusual when taking the drug finasteride and you must be over 50 before prostate cancer is even a reasonable consideration unless you have prostate cancer in the family
