I'm looking to treat blemishes (dark spots, scars) on my bearded region with lasers but I don't want to permanently remove hair follicles. Are there lasers that will not? Thanks.

Some lasers are specifically designed to address hair follicles while other devices target other concerns. These devices are very unlikely to cause any type of permanent hair reduction in the treatment area as long as they are used properly. Make sure you work with a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in different laser devices to ensure your treatment is both safe and successful.

No, this should not cause permanent hair loss. Dark scars can be improved with a combination of Cosmelan, lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer
