First off, I have to admit that I am terrified of going to the dentist, especially because ive put it off for too long. I finally got the courage and went to the dentist. They took x rays and looked at my teeth. I am extremely interested in getting dental bonding because my teeth are embarrassing small. The dentist had known about my interest in bonding, and he said he won't do it and it's not an option for me. Why is this?? I'm insecure about my teeth, and it's affecting me negatively.

Answer: Why would a dentist says they cannot do dental bonding? The reasons a dentist might not be comfortable in doing dental bonding are that they are either not experienced or well-trained in the procedure. They may have tried it and not have had good success with it. Many dentists feel that porcelain is a better alternative because it does not stain. The newer resin materials are pretty good at resisting stain, but not as good as porcelain. The advantages of dental bonding are that it is usually not necessary to file down or reduce the enamel of the tooth to make room for it as is required with porcelain veneers; dental bonding is much more affordable than porcelain veneers, costing 1/2 to 1/3 the price; finally dental bonding can be done in one visit with no drilling and no anesthetic or shots required; and we are able to show you a preview veneer made with resin so you can see the results before you make the commitment to proceed with treatment. We are using a special material made specifically for the purpose of creating resin veneers to change the shape or increase the length of teeth. Our patients have been thrilled with this service. Hopefully you can find a dentist near you that will be able to provide this service for you.
