Areola reduction, worth it?

Question

I dislike the size, but dont know how worth it it would be. Its expensive& theres the risk of stretching back out/bad scars, especially w/weight gain. I'm only 20, and currently just under 110 pounds I believe and 116 being the most Ive ever weighed, no kids but want them. What if I only want a slight reduction? I believe I measure about 2.5 inches vertically, slightly over 2 inches horizontally. I dont want them tiny, but perhaps 1.75 in all around? Would that help reduce chance of stretching?

Dear 20niurbrb,For scars, I close all of my incisions in 5 layers and do not use absorbable sutures because they cause inflammation and worse scarring. I tape all of my incisions in the office visits once a week for six weeks after surgery to improve the appearance. After taping, I start my patients on a scar gel therapy for 3 months that they have to put on their incisions twice daily. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. If you are reducing the diameter by less than a centimeter, a periareolar mastopexy approach for areolar reduction may be worth it. Absorbable vs. nonabsorbable sutures are a matter of personal preference and I don't think that is the crux of the decision for you; the issue with the areolar reduction is that you can't downsize too much before the tension around the circle may become excessive and lead to areolar stretch, a strange central bulging of the immediate area around the nipple with flattening of the outer areola, or widening and irregularity of the scar. You'd need to be measured in the office to discuss the pros and cons.
