I had it done 3 days ago April 21st and hiked until the day before. We just received notice that we were granted half dome permits for May 26th, which would put it at exactly 5 weeks after surgery, but I will need to train before I go. I just don't want to risk anything going wrong by coming back to early, but this is a huge planned hike my kids and I want to do together. Thanks!
Answer: Wait before Strenuous Exercise Consult with your surgeon about the types of activities that are acceptable post-surgery. It is important that you not engage in strenuous activities in the first three (2-3) weeks after surgery. My own personal recommendations to my patients are start walking as much as you want to, as soon as you want to. Then progress as desired to high-reps, low-resistance exercises. Slowly progress for 6 weeks, after which time there are no restrictions. I advise my patients to refrain from strenuous physical activity such as heavy lifting with your arms or jogging for 6 weeks. Aerobic exercise will raise your blood pressure, which could cause late bleeding and harm your result. Once you begin exercising again, start gently and let your body tell you what it can tolerate. Don’t rush!! It is important that you follow your doctor's instructions so that you get the best aesthetic results. #breastrevision #breastimplants

Answer: 6 weeks but ask your surgeon Normally, I recommend patients start exercising after three weeks, at which time you will be able to begin your regular exercise routine, specifically aerobic and lower body weight training. Upper body weight training and push-ups should not be done until six weeks after your surgery. These guidelines are put into place to protect your body while it recovers. Any strenuous exercise too soon will increase your risk of developing complications, some of which require another surgery to correct. You may need to wait for 6 weeks before doing strenuous hiking, although you should ask your surgeon for their advice. Enjoy your trip!

Answer: Breast revision The hike sounds great. I've always wanted to do that. The recovery really will depend on the type of revision you had and how involved the procedure was. If it entails a lot of internal suturing, for example, your surgeon will probably want you to wait longer than something of a simpler nature. Best to check with your surgeon to be on the safe side.

Answer: How long before I can do strenuous hiking after a breast revision? Thank you for the question.Your plastic surgeon will be in the best position to advise you regarding postoperative activities; much will depend on how well you are doing and whether you have experienced any complications or not. Remember that he/she knows exactly what was performed, whether you are experiencing any complications or not, exactly what activity you are planning on returning to, and is ultimately responsible for your care. Generally speaking, in my practice, lower body exercises can be resumed relatively quickly after surgery (after one week). Generally, heavy, exercise/lifting will need to wait 4 to 6 weeks postoperatively, sometimes longer depending on exactly what was done ( for example capsulorraphy procedures require a longer period of rest of the pectoralis major muscles).Best wishes.

Answer: Post operative exercise restrictions are at the behest of the plastic surgeon. Your question is more properly asked of your own plastic surgeon. In my practice, hiking would be permitted at four weeks provided the breasts are properly protected.
