Crown irritating my tongue with sharp edge. Can it be fixed? Is the crown too big? (photos)

I recently had a crown put on my two front bottom teeth that were badly chipped after an accident. My teeth were very crooked to begin with and my dentist ended up using one crown to cover both to make them look straight. However the crown is irritating my tongue since i can feel a very sharp edge on the bottom. I also feel as though my bite is too high. My question is, can this be fixed and is it common practice to crown two teeth with one crown when they are misaligned?

Your crown can be adjusted and polished, however ask your dentist how you will clean between teeth since your crowns are splinted and joined. Honestly they look too bulky and maybe it is because of the misalignment of the original teeth! There are many types of crowns! Contact your dentist for the sharp porcelain fused to metal crown bothering you.

the crowns can usually be smoothed. They do look slightly large in the pictures, but it's hard to tell without seeing them.

Hi:From the photo it appears you have two crowns that are connected to each other.  This is not uncommon in certain situations.  The sharp edge can definitely be polished off.  Best,Dr. Maddahi

Go back to your dentist. The “draping” white stuff looks to me to be the cement he had used, That should be cleaned up or drilled away. It better not be a part of the crowns. If it is, then that is a HORRIBLE design and as a dentist, he should’ve never place that misshaped crown on you and left it there. It is the extra draping material that is causing your tongue to be scraped. Your bite can easily be adjusted.
