I’m getting braces to widen my smile also. Looking to reduce base and create more of a Barbie button nose. I might need both rhinoplasty and alar but wanted to start with alar.

Alarplasty will make a great difference. When you smile your nostrils look prominent. A conservative alarplasty will smoothen the look. However, you might need a JPlasty which is a combination of Alarplasty and Tipplasty technique that I have developed. Your tip needs to be addressed as well. Otherwise your nose looks great.

An alarplasty won't do anything to move your nose from its current appearance to a "Barbie" nose. From the photos you submitted, probably getting your nose to where you'd like it would involve working on the bridge and especially working on the tip cartilages so they're not quite so prominent. Alarplasty isn't a first step; I can't even tell from the photos whether you are even a candidate for an alarplasty!

I hope I've saved you some trouble!! Be very careful in selecting a surgeon: working on tip cartilages like yours is not a trivial pursuit.
