Would OHIP cover me in having a panniculectomy and inner thigh lift?

Question

I have constant cyst problems and lower back pain. Suffering with a spinal injury, degeneration, hypothyroidism, - Unsuccessful weight loss ie: Xenical, thyroid meds, chiro and physio - Limited range of motion walking due to annular tears L4 L5 , apophyseal joint herniation - living with excruciating lower back pain, radiculopathy - Panni sits on the top of thighs when sitting, heavy when i standing - Sits below hairline to pubis. What options are available to me to take this weight off my lower back and would this be covered by OHIP?

Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear about your challenging situation.
Though you do not share your height and weight (BMI), it sounds you may be an excellent candidate for a gastric sleeve prior to panniculectomy. As you know, obesity puts you at risk for many diseases and conditions, including increased risk of complications during and after surgery such as a panniculectomy. 
Reaching a healthy BMI prior to undergoing a panniculectomy would optimize your health overall and increase the liklihood of a positive outcome with a panniculectomy. 
While I do not know the specifics of what is covered by OHIP, in general, insurance tends to cover obesity surgery for patients with a BMI > 40 or BMI > 35, with obesity-related diseases. Panniculectomy is often covered when the pannus reaches the level of the pubis. I have rarely seen thigh lift covered by insurance. 
Consultation with a bariatric (obesity) surgeon will give you a better understanding of how surgery can help you reach your health goals and what is covered by your insurance plan.
