Dear Luminous925002,breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. The breast, which is mainly composed of skin, adipose tissue and mammary gland, is fixed to the rib cage by the resistance of the skin and suspensory ligaments. If suspensory ligaments are loose and skin tension is low, a breast may sag regardless of its size. Even breasts with small volume may sag due to loosening of the skin and suspensory ligaments due to births and breastfeeding. At the same time, even though it is large, a breast with strong skin structure and ligaments might not sag. As a result, the characteristics and structure of each breast differ from one another.
Hello and thank you for your question. In the USA polytech implants are not approved for use but the Mentor devices havebeen used for many years. Hope this helps in your decision.Best wishes.

I personally prefer Mentor, although Allergan is an excellent brand and has also stood the test of time. I prefer the smooth round implants for fewer long term risks, plus they give very natural results and are softer than textured implants.
Breast implants are sized according to their volume in cubic centimeters (cc). How do you know what size implant to choose? Looking at pictures and talking to friends who had a breast augmentation might help. Off course the volume will depend on the shape and size of your actual breasts, your...
Thank you for your question, unfortunately it is difficult to answer without at least pictures. In general however, the most common reason to have another surgery is to go bigger because of size regret. So you should plan on going with the biggest size in the series, this will likely not...
