Last month I replaced a crown that I got when I was 16 (now 28) as in the last year I developed 2 fistulas above my right incisors. I had multiple canal treatments and both teeth were extracted. A week later, I had a temporary crown fitted (final crown to be fitted 6-12 months later). By then the gum above the incisor had already receded a bit. Now, 2 weeks later the gap is even wider despite starting to use Gengigel. It really affects my speech & self confidence. Any suggestions are appreciated

Hi:Normally silver crowns are temporary. However, there are metal crowns that look like silver crowns as well that are permanent. Its best to go to a dentist and have it removed.Best,Dr. Maddahi
Hi:Dry Socket is due to infection in the extraction site, it has nothing to do with left over cement. Cement usually causes inflamation, once removed it should heal and go back to normal.Best,Dr. Maddahi.
Hi:My suggestion at this time is to place the permanent crown with temporary cement so if the pain continues the crown can be removed for root canal procedure.Best,Dr. Maddahi
