I have a few spider veins on my face and legs, at the moment they don't bother me but I don't want to get any more. Is there anything I need to do or avoid doing to prevent getting more?

Answer: Face and leg spider veins. The most common causes of face and leg spider veins are genetics, hormones and sun exposure. Facial spiders and telangiectasia are difficult to prevent but avoiding sun exposure will help. Leg spiders can be helped by keeping the weight down, staying fit and wearing support hose if possible. If you have many leg spider veins then you may want to consider a leg venous evaluation to look for refluxing venous valves. See a vein specialist.
