I want to improve my scarring in 3 areas: 1. Forehead : 3 corrective surgeries undergone. Stitches still show against my skin especially in the sun 2. Top of the nose- this was injected with a steroid and has swollen up. I decided not to go under the knife again. So this remains. 3. Edge between nose and cheek- this has discoloured and the worst of the 3. 4. Edge of the lip - 1 corrective surgery to align better. But the scar remains tough and dark. Suggestions? Microdermabrasion or surgery?

Hello there,Thank you for your question.  I would not recommend microdermabrasion unless you want to help exfoliate your skin.  The best routes to take would be laser treatments, micro needling with RF or even seeking a surgeon to revise some of the scarring.  I would also recommend some lightening creams with hydroquinone.  Seeking a board certified physician will help the both of you decide on the best route to meet your expected outcome.  I hope this helps.All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Hi There Thank you for your question and photographs.We are experts in this area and do treat a lot of people like yourself. Microdermabrasion is a waste of time for you.The best option is to rub the scars down completely then reapply skin cells to heal the area.
