Chances of having an infection after axillary breast tissue removal?

Infection can be dangerous so you should have your wound checked by someone experienced and qualified in looking after someone who has had surgery. You do not give sufficient information for a confident diagnosis however:The most likely diagnoses are either a haematoma, seroma or infection.HaematomaHaematoma is a collection of blood under the skin. Usually these are due to bleeding within  a day or so of surgery. They can form up to 2 weeks after an operation but this less usual. They feel like  a hard tender lump and there is often surrounding bruising. Small haematomas can be left to absorb. Larger haematomas may need surgery to remove them.SeromaSerum is a very common problem. It is a collection of tissue fluid under the skin. It feels like a lump and may enlarge. Often they are hard and painful. Usually you first become aware of them after a few days. Small seromas of often re-absorb after a few days and are not harmful. If they are getting larger and are uncomfortable then they can be aspirated. A needle passed in and the fluid sucked out. This often needs to be repeated but eventually it stops building up.InfectionThe signs of in local wound infection are swelling/lump, redness, pain and the skin is warm. Redness is often an early sign of infection and helps to distinguish infection from seroma. Infection usually needs medical attention. A swab should be taken. Fluid collections such as haematoma, seroma or pus should be drained. Antibiotics are frequently advised.More serious infection affecting you generally, making you ill or septic, is potentially serious and needs urgent medical attention. Symptoms would include high temperature, shivers and shakes (rigors), and becoming generally unwell. You should seek urgent medical advice.
