Can Dysport of Crow's Feet Cause Lashes to Fall Out?

Question

I've lost about half my lashes in the last 2 weeks. I've been using Dysport for a few years, just about every 6 months. I'm trying to rule out the cause. I did get it about 2 weeks ago and that's about the time I noticed how terribly sparse my lashes were. :(

In general, Dysport will not cause the lashes to fall out. The side effects of Dysport may include the following:

	1) Light bruising
	2) Moderate swelling
	3) Redness
	4) Tenderness around the injection site
	5) Temporary ptosis, or drooping of the brow or eyelid

	DId you have any issues with your lashes following any other Dysport treamtments? It is important to speak with your physician, as there may be another issue present that requires treatment. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

It's unlikely the cause of your sparse lashes is the Dysport. If it still concerns you, you may consider switching to Botox and see if you observe the same phenomenon. Also consider Latisse - it may not help you diagnose the culprit, but it will make your lashes fuller in the meantime.

I have not heard of Dysport causing a loss of eyelashes.  It is most likely that they are falling out due to some other cause.

I have never heard of or am aware of any studies that have found that Dysport causes loss of eyelashes.  I doubt that Dysport would be the cause and would look into other possibilities.

From the history you have given, it is unlikely that Dysport is the cause of your eyelash problem. It is best to check with your physician and ask that he or she check with the company. There may be some reports of this issue, although I personally have not seen this in my practice.

Correlation doesn't equal causation and we all tend to associate things that happen at the same time, hoping one event explains another. Dysport is not known to cause eyelash loss. It is unlikely the medicine even reached the eyelashes. Speak with your eye doctor. There may be another explanation, such as blepharitis.

It is unlikely that Dysport is causing your eyelashes to fall out.  It would be best for you to be evaluated for loss of eyelashes.  If you had any doubts in your mind, you could try stopping Dysport for 6-12 months and seeing if your eyelashes grow back.  There are other medical conditions that could cause eyelashes to fall out, so I suggest you see your healthcare provider for full evaluation.

I have never heard of Dysport (or Botox) causing loss of eyelashes. This is most commonly seen with thyroid problems so I would recommend a full medical workup with attention to your thyroid levels. Be well.

I have never heard of this and Medicis has put out no information on this. If you were to have some odd side effect like this, it would have started at the very beginning; it wouldn't built over the years. Something else is occurring.
