Hi, I am located in the Santa Maria/Lompoc area of California and I am looking for a doctor to surgically remove a keloid I have. I am willing to drive 1-3 hours out. I have went through the the steroid injections and those have not worked. I really want it gone, it's very uncomfortable. Any advice or help us greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

question. The cost involved in removing keloids via surgery depends on where it
is, how big it is, and what kind of surgical procedure is done. You need to
know that even after surgical removal, keloids can recur if things are not done
post-operatively. And if they recur, they can come back larger than what was
originally cut out. I have been involved in keloid research for over 20 years
and have had the privilege to be an author on two international guideline
publications on scar therapy. You need to make sure that you are working with
your surgeon or derm to make sure that if you have surgery, then injections are
still needed in most, and we would also recommend topical silicone gel sheeting
to minimize the risk of recurrence. So as bad as it seems that you want
surgery, know that surgery alone here is not always the best answer.
