Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

The tip of the nose is quite vulnerable to scarring with even minor procedures. I’m glad that it didn’t turn out to be a basal cell carcinoma, and with something benign like a fibrous papule. Fortunately, there are things that can be done to mitigate your scar. These include the use of topical retinoids and other bio stimulatory creams. You might consider having a small amount of a hyaluronic acid filler to smooth it over if it seems to disappear when the skin is stretched. Surprisingly, the filler in this location can often last for a very long time, and just stretching the skin with a bit of filler also results in new collagen being laid down. PRP Injection could also result in long lasting improvement. Lastly, as a physician with expertise in the treatment of various types of scarring, I can tell you that there are a number of energy-based treatments that could give you permanent improvement, including and especially fractional radio frequency and fractionated CO2 (Fraxis Duo).

You will probably want to find a dermatologist with several fillers, PRP, and devices that treat scars. Soon, it should be a memory!
