Will doing liposuction on the inner thighs leave loose skin?

In general if your skin has good elasticity you will not experience any loose skin following liposuction. If before the procedure you do have loose skin sometimes liposuction can make this appear worse. The results will differ in each individual so it is best to discuss this with your plastic surgeon to identify the best technique for you.

Liposuction of inner thighs works well only when the skin quality is good, that means not a lot of looseness of the skin or stretch marks.  If this is the case then liposuction will actually make the skin appear more loose.  Even with adequate skin quality, when large volume liposuction of the inner thighs is performed it may result in some laxity.  It is best if you seek the advice of a board certified plastic surgeon to see if you may be a candidate for this.  For a BBL procedure I often use inner thigh liposuction as a source of good fat for transplantation.

Are you a smoker? Have you had excessive sun exposure?  At age 34, your skin is likely tight and elastic if you answered "no" to these questions.  Even so, an exam in person is absolutely essential in guiding you through the decision-making process.  Liposuction is very effective on the inner and outer thighs.  If you have good, elastic skin, it is expected that your skin will tighten and contract over the areas of liposuction over several months.  Your board certified plastic surgeon will have answers for your specific needs during your examination.  Good luck!

Liposuction just removes the fat and or volume but does not affect the skin unless it is very loose and poor elasticity which may cause it to sag.  The medial thigh is most prone to these types of problems and defects after liposuction can be more prominent.

Thank you for your question.Without photos I can only comment in general terms.Any time liposuction is completed there a deflation of the area because of fat removal (which is what we want). How the skin responds is very individualistic.In general the inner thigh responds well. If the skin is unsatisfactorily loose in 6-9 months you have the option to do a inner thigh lift.I suggest you make a appointment with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

Inner thigh liposuction is definitely a risk area.  The skin is thin and does not retract well.  The amount of fat taken is the issue here.   Patients are often disappointed because not enough was taken but they are even mors disappointed if the amount taken results in loose lax skin.  The problem is that usually the skin of medial thighs is somewhat  lax after the 30s.   There is no way to assure skin retraction.  The laser and ultrasound liposuction techniques help A LITTLE with skin retraction but only a LITTLE.  Simple liposuction results in about the same skin retraction as does high tech liposuction.    If loose skin results from liposuction of any type on the inner thighs it is difficult to deal with.  The only option then is a thigh lift with a 8 to 10 inch medial thigh scar  and incision and much expense.  So medial thighs can be treated with liposuction but it is mandatory that the surgeon be conservative in this area.  Conservative technique  helps prevent loose skin but often the open leg result the patient wants does not even come close to occurring.    This is a tough and dangerous area.    I have done many inner thighs over the years and taking less is always better than taking more and getting lax and unattractive skin.   In general I am not conservative in my larger volume approaches to the body but inner thighs demands conservatism.   My Best,  Dr C
