Is Hepatitis C a contraindication for CO2?

Question

Just wondering if a positive result for hepatitis c shown in blood work would disqualify you from getting CO2 laser? I took mavyret a few years ago though I never went back to check on the status afterwards because everyone has such a hard time getting a successful blood sample. I surely can't be the only former addict trying to improve their appearance?

A positive hepatitis C history doesn’t necessarily disqualify you from CO2 laser treatments. Since you’ve taken Mavyret (which is very effective), there’s a good chance the virus is no longer active, but the only way to know for sure is to get a follow-up test. Another consideration would be to double check liver levels. Since CO2 laser resurfacing can involve some downtime and stress on the skin, it’s important to ensure your liver is functioning well before treatment.  That’s important not just for this procedure, but for your overall health, and it helps us determine if your body is in a good place to heal safely. We encourage you to reach out to a primary care provider or liver specialist who can help with that follow-up testing. Once you have those results, a qualified laser provider can better assess whether CO2 laser is appropriate and safe for you.
