Crown fell out with post. Can I wait a few days before it goes back in?

My crown fell out with the post attached and my dentist is on vacation and returns on Monday (today is Friday). Can I leave the crown out until Monday if I don't have any pain or do I need to cement it in right away?

I would recommend you keep the crown off and visit your dentist as soon as possible. The risk of putting it back in is that you could easily choke on it now that its back in your mouth but not bonded well. Since you have a post, it means the tooth has probably also had a root canal and hopefully sealed from the outside environment. The fear is worrying about bacteria entering from your mouth and inside your body. This is why you would not want to wait a long time before seeing your dentist. Hopefully they can just glue it back on but sometimes more treatment may be needed depending on what caused the crown to come off.
