Can I have liposuction with type 1 von willebrand disease?

Hello, I was diagnosed with type 1 von willebrand disease as a little girl and would like to undergo a liposuction procedure. Ive never had any issues with excessive bleeding and even have light periods. Am I still a good candidate for just lipo suction?

In my opinion, type 1 von Willebrand disease does not automatically mean liposuction is impossible, especially if you have never had significant bleeding. But it does make this a higher-risk elective surgery that should not be treated like routine liposuction.
Before deciding, you should have clearance from a hematologist with recent von Willebrand factor activity/antigen and factor VIII testing, and a clear plan for surgery if treatment such as DDAVP, tranexamic acid, or factor support is needed. I would also want the procedure done by a board-certified plastic surgeon in an accredited setting, not a casual office setting. If the hematologist and surgeon are both comfortable and prepared, you may still be a candidate.
