I came across a nine month old news video., Which talked about a patient who underwent a BBL procedure in Miami, from a board certified surgeon. It was said that the patient was hospitalized two days after due to organs being punctured during the procedure. Is there something surgeons do to insure this does not happen? Thank you in advance for the answers and thank you for taking the time to do so.
Answer: Complications of a BBL procedure It's not surprising the news will showcase a complication like that because it is unusual and sensational. However they rarely discuss the thousands of procedures performed each week where patients have great outcomes with no complications. With any liposuction procedure there is a very rare possibility of injuring an internal organ. Experienced surgeons know the anatomy very well and know how to avoid such injuries. Consult with a few plastic surgeons in person to determine if you are a good surgical candidate.Best wishesDr.Bruno

Answer: BBL Hello and great question. I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel. I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist. Though this is highly unlikely, it is a risk. It is important to choose a well trained and qualified plastic surgeon. The more training they have the better! I would definitely recommend doing an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in this procedure and who can suggest what is needed. I hope that helps! Best of luck!

Answer: What does a surgeon do to insure to not puncture any organs during a Brazilian Butt Lift? The risk of perforation with liposuction is extremely small, and some board certified plastic surgeons have never experienced this after hundreds or thousands of liposuction procedures during a BBL.

Answer: BBL candidate Dear OscarSaa, if you get a surgery from a board-certified plastic surgeon that is well trained and respects all the recommendations regarding the safety, then the chance of complications is really low. In case of BBL surgery, blunt instruments can be sued to reduce the chance of sharp injury to organs. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Complications from Liposuction Providers have managed to puncture just about every organ system in the body as a complication of Liposuction. This includes the lung, heart, major arteries and veins, liver, colon etc. These type of injuries can lead to fatal outcomes especially when there is a Delay in diagnosis.Board-certified plastic surgeons have some of the most extensive trainings including many months of critical care and trauma surgery.A board-certified plastic surgeon is not only trained in how to do plastic surgery procedures but also to recognize and treat complications.Complications do happen. The question you should ask yourself is what is the chance of each of these complications and what happens if a complication should occur. Is your provider trained to recognize the complication and to intervene appropriately?Board certification is irrelevant unless it’s board certification in plastic surgery.Even so board-certified plastic surgeons have had these complications as well. They are however the most qualified and performing the procedure, minimizing the chance of complications, recognizing complications and intervening when things go wrong. Providers who have experience, use good technique and judgment or simply have good manual dexterity will minimize the chance of any of these complications. The opposite is also true.Complications can happen to any surgeon including very talented board certified plastic surgeons. The chance of having a complication and how it’s managed if it happens is something to be concerned about. These concerns should be discussed during in person consultations.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
