After Mohs surgery, the timing of fillers like Juvederm depends on how well the area has healed and where the injections are planned. In general, for a small Mohs site with a few stitches and an uncomplicated recovery, I recommend waiting at least 2–4 weeks before considering hyaluronic acid filler. Two weeks may be sufficient if: - Sutures have been removed - The incision is fully closed - There is no redness, drainage, crusting, or tenderness - Swelling has largely resolved However, in many cases I prefer closer to 4 weeks, especially if the filler will be placed directly in or immediately adjacent to the surgical site. This allows collagen remodeling to begin and reduces the risk of disrupting wound healing or increasing inflammation. If the injection site is in a different anatomic area (for example, Mohs on the cheek and filler in the lips), treatment can sometimes proceed sooner, provided healing is complete and there are no signs of infection. It’s also important to consider scar maturation. Early filler can sometimes help blend contour irregularities, but overfilling too soon—before tissue settles—can lead to asymmetry once swelling resolves. Bottom line: if you’re two weeks out and healing beautifully, you may be close—but many board-certified dermatologists would advise waiting another week or two for optimal safety and cosmetic outcome.
