Can I still use my tretinoin topical cream at night to make my accutane 40mg more effective?

What should my daily skincare routine be on accutane? Morning and night?Only been taking it for a week. I really want this medicine to work because my body has just been taken over by acne. Any tips on how to make it most effective?

Accutane is very drying and it is best not to use another retinoid. The drug must be used in an adequate dose for 15-20 weeks. The proper total dose is 150 mg per kilogram. I recommend starting slowly at 0.5 mg per kilogram forcthevfirwt month because some people flare the first month.Stick with it and you will be pleased with the outcome.

Thank you for your question. A side effect of Accutane is an increase risk of scarring when the skin incurs any type of trauma or injury such as cosmetic procedures (microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser treatments), surgical procedures, piercings, or tattoos. With that being said, I would not recommend using tretinoin while on Accutane therapy because tretinoin gently exfoliates your skin, which may cause irritation to the skin. Accutane alone is a very effective treatment for acne, and you need to be patient and give the medication time. I recommend you speak with your prescribing dermatologist regarding your questions and concerns. Take care and good luck.
