I would caution against treating fine facial hair in darker skin patients, particularly those of middle eastern or Mediterranean heritage. By partially treating the hair follicle with inadequate settings this can happen. It can also happen because fine hair poorly absorbs the laser heat. Shaving must be done prior to all laser treatments or most of the heat will be lost on the visible hair and not go down the hair shaft. I rarely treat facial hair for this reason in darker skin patients.
