Can I take an Aleve/Ibuprofen after an IPL?

Usually patients can take tylenol or NSAIDs like ibuprophen after a facial treatment like IPL.  Usually the IPL targets red vessels or brown spots but sometimes can target both and there can be some swelling.  It would be best to check in with the office that did your treatment for their recommendations.Best to you.

Yes, you can take ibuprofen. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care post IPL. Laser results cant take several weeks to settle. I usually recommend a combination of treatments with IPL for best results. I suggest adding microneedling/prp and skin care to improve skin quality and tone once healed. Yes, it is safe to take Ibuprofen 24 hours after an IPL.  Swelling is very common following this type of procedure and you should expect the swelling to start to go down within a few days.  You may want to use a cold compress several times a day to help with the swelling.   If you still have questions, there is no substitute for a follow-up visit with your provider to go over your results and recovery.

IPL is a great treatment for facial rejuvenation. It can also address broken capillaries. Swelling is normal for a few days after a treatment. I recommend that my patients apply cold compresses such as ice packs and elevate the treated area sa much as possible to reduce swelling. Ibuprofen can also be used.
