Is Genius RF spot treatment ideal for a few ice pick scars on my nose? (photos)

Question

I have 6 ice pick acne scars on my nose. I don’t have them anywhere else on my face. I had a consultation and the Genius RF micro needling was recommended, but they don’t do spot treatments. I do not want to treat my whole face. They did not offer any other options. Is it possible to get Genius spot treatment, or are there other options I should consider? Scars are ~15 years old, I’m 33F East Asian. Prone to hyperpigmentation but would rather have freckles there than holes.

Hello DB.  Yes, a very good solution for you is TCA Cross treatment.  TCA is an acid solution that is used for the small ice pick type scars you have.  A tiny amount of the solution is placed into each scar.  A small scab will form and the healing usually takes 1-2 weeks.  Yes, you will have hyperpigmentation, but it resolves on it's own (slowly) or more quickly if you use hydroquinone (4% - 8%) after the spots are healed.  Genius RF microneedling will not work well for this type of scar.

Doesn't matter if it's Genius or Venus or Morpheus or whatever fancy, enticing name is attached to the gizmo, I cannot emphasize enough that the hard science to support the use of these kinds of expensive, supposedly "next big thing" energy-based devices lags woefully behind the heavy marketing and social media hype that promotes them. By contrast, TCA CROSS, which I have personally been performing for over twenty-three years for treating ice pick scars and dilated pores has a proven track record of safety and efficacy in all skin types, and that includes all shades of SOC. So, before falling prey to expensive machines with catchy names, many of which are here today and gone tomorrow, you would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Given the few sites you  have, in experienced hands, the whole treatment session should not take more than a couple of minutes Best of luck.
